Contractor Requirements β Application for Certification by VRA
Certification is a difficult process and less than half of the applications for certification are accepted. VRA makes no offer or promise that you or your company will be accepted or certified.
Only the owner of the roofing business may apply for VRA certification of his/her company
The business must be a Domestic Vermont company β registered
With the Secretary of State β No foreign registrations are permitted
Β The business must be registered as a Roofing Contractor with the
Office of Professional Regulation
The business has operated continuously within the State of Vermont for
Five or more years
The business is not a part or a division of a General Contracting
Business
The business issues a written warranty on all installations that is
Valid for at least a three year period
The Owner has no criminal record related to fraud, decent, breach of trust, or other similar crime of moral turpitude
The Owner has been a resident of the State of Vermont for at least 10 years
The company has a positive credit score and is registered with D&B
The company maintains a VRA star rating of 4 or higher. (Scale of 1 to 5) after certification
The company has and maintains a good public reputation
The company requires a supervisor on all roofing projects (cannot be an installer / foreman)
The company must pass 5 inspections prior to certification and also agrees to allow our staff to inspect any job won through VRA at any time unannounced
